Honouring Mothers & Caring for the Women Who Care for Everyone Else

By Physio Ash and Practice Manager Saira

Mother’s Day is often filled with flowers, breakfast in bed, and a heartfelt “thank you.” It’s a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the women who give so much of themselves every single day: physically, emotionally, and mentally.

But beyond the cards and gifts, Mother’s Day can also be a gentle reminder: When was the last time you checked in on your own health?

For many women, particularly mothers, personal wellbeing tends to sit low on the priority list. Between caring for children, managing households, working, and supporting others, it’s easy to overlook the subtle (and not so subtle) signals your body is sending you.

Pelvic health is one of the most commonly neglected areas. Leaking when you cough or run, a feeling of heaviness or pressure, pain with intimacy, or ongoing core weakness after pregnancy are all experiences that are incredibly common, but they are not something you simply have to “put up with.”

At Female Focus Physiotherapy, we believe every woman deserves to feel strong, confident, and supported in her body at every stage of life.

Our mission is to empower women to achieve optimal health and well being through compassionate and personalised care. We are dedicated to providing evidence-based, patient-centred physiotherapy treatments that address the unique needs of each individual. Whether you’re navigating pregnancy, recovering postpartum, returning to exercise, or managing changes later in life. Your experience matters!

Motherhood places unique demands on the body. Pregnancy, birth, lifting children, sleep deprivation, and the mental load all play a role in how your body feels and functions. And while much of this is normal, struggling in silence doesn’t have to be.

Seeking support isn’t indulgent. It’s essential.

This Mother’s Day, we encourage you to shift the focus slightly. Alongside celebrating the incredible role you play in others’ lives, take a moment to reflect on your own health:

  • Are you experiencing symptoms you’ve been ignoring?

  • Have you returned to exercise without guidance or confidence?

  • Do you feel connected to your body, or are you just getting through the day?

You deserve care that is tailored to you.

At Female Focus Physiotherapy, we cater to women throughout the lifespan for a range of musculoskeletal and pelvic health concerns. Our goal is to create a supportive, nurturing environment where women feel heard, respected, and empowered to take control of their health. Sometimes the most meaningful gift isn’t something wrapped. It’s giving yourself permission to prioritise your wellbeing.

This Mother’s Day, that might look like:

  • Booking that appointment you’ve been putting off

  • Taking time to move your body in a way that feels good

  • Asking questions about symptoms you’ve normalised

  • Or simply acknowledging that your health matters too

When women feel supported, informed, and strong, it doesn’t just benefit them. It flows into every part of their lives and families.

To all the mothers, caregivers, and women in our community: we see you, we value you, and we’re here to support you.

Happy Mother’s Day
