The benefits of remedial massage for women's health. I'm saying this on behalf of most women I know but, we ALL love a massage, am I right!?
We are sometimes stressed, tired, busy, overwhelmed, looking after everyone else in the family and not prioritising our own health and wellbeing, that we forget about those little dull aches and pains that come to life when you have a spare minute to “relax”....
So why don't we look after ourselves more!? Well, it's a number of things, lack of time, lack of energy, lack of sleep, and the list goes on. So lets start putting ourselves on top of the list and not on the backburner to deal with later… by doing this we will be more productive, more energetic, happier, easier to get along with and hopefully without those dull aches and pains!!
Now here are some reasons why we need to do this…

Remedial massage from a women's health perspective has many benefits such as a reduction in chronic pain, stress and anxiety relief, improved posture, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, improved circulation and aiding in menstrual discomfort. By having regular remedial massages these pains and ailments can be reduced with an increase in blood ow, stress release, improved joint mobility and relaxing the whole body. It's about taking the time out for YOU. Sometimes it can just be an hour (or 30-45 minutes) of rest, no talking, quiet time, relaxing and having a massage that helps alleviate stress and tension within the body.
Another big topic around women's health and remedial massage is pregnancy! Pregnancy massage is very popular and much needed, and at Female Focus I have had the pleasure of massaging many women throughout their pregnancy journey, assisting in their aches and pains and helping them to relax. Pregnancy can cause a lot of different ailments such as lower back pain, SIJ pain, leg/foot cramps, neck and shoulder tension, sciatic pain, pelvic girdle pain and the list goes on!! Fluid retention and swelling can be another one to add to the list and as well as remedial massage a bit of lymphatic drainage can also be benecial during your massage to relieve these symptoms. In my experience massage throughout pregnancy relieves most ailments as well as relieving stress and tension, aiding in better sleep and mood and helping with posture.
*Be sure to consult your healthcare practitioner before booking in a massage during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester and if any pre-existing medical conditions.
